The Universal Law of Hebrew: Nun

Written by:

Nun is the 14th letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet and its numerical value is 50.

What is interesting is how the number 50 coincides with the powerful hidden meaning of the letter.

Nun in ancient Hebrew is a picture of a seed as in offspring. Through the offspring, life is continued. The word continue is directly related to this letter.

Each Hebrew letter is not seen as a letter as we understand letters today. Each letter is a word.

Let’s see how powerful the word Nun is and its hidden significance!

105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.

108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

Psalm 119:105-112

How do you read or comprehend the first verse?

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

A lamp is not light, it is the thing that holds the light. The light is the fire that is held by the lamp.

The picture that is being drawn in this verse is that the word is the director of my steps. “Thy word is a lamp…” Lamp can imply the motivation of my steps. The lamp is the motivation of light.

“A light unto my path…” We might think that this is simply saying that the “word” helps us to see our path. It is saying much more than that. In this verse lies the secret of the word Nun.

As the morning light introduces itself, it doesn’t abruptly displace darkness. It gradually dispels darkness. The sun doesn’t abruptly, like the flip of a switch change what is dark, or introduces its heat the moment light begins to appear, the heat gradually gets warmer as the sun gains it brightness during the day. We can learn from this that the sun or light transcends darkness.

The hidden law in the Hebrew word Nun is the law of transcendence.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my pathway” is describing transcendence.

If the world over is dark and full of wickedness, and the quality of life is on a dark and downward spiral, the only way to change it is by Nun/transcendence.

The Hebrew structure of healing all things and anything that is on its decline (unhealthy) is healthy offspring, rejuvenated offspring and healthy reproduction. There is no repair without reproduction.

When YAH made man the law of Nun was in full effect. He told man to be fruitful and multiply. This was a gradual way of repairing and maintaining a state of health.

The writer in this Psalm is coming from a commitment to transcend the perils of life. The voice in which these 8 verses are written is active and aggressive. It is written as to say, ‘I will not take a shorter route to achieve an ideal world or life.’ The psalmist knows that any other way outside of transcendence will not last. There are no man-induced laws that can dispel darkness.

“You shall not kill,” “you shall not bare false witness,” and “you shall not commit adultery,”—to name a few—cannot change darkness. Only whole and healthy offspring can replace and remove decay.

The law of Nun proves that healing is more powerful than rot.

Here is another point about this great law.

The guilt that comes with poverty can only be transcended, it must be removed gradually. If it is done too quickly or abruptly, the progress gained will be lost just as quickly as it has been gained.
